5 Keys for Middle School Success

1) Take your academics seriously

Success takes hard work and commitment.á If you want to be successful, you will need to make your education a top priority and do what it takes.á If you need to study fifteen minutes or five hours, just do it.á Remember, the habits you develop now will be the habits you possess later in life.á

2) Get organized, study, and be prepared

Make a checklist of what you need to accomplish and then do it.áá Use your agenda to write down assignments or schedule events.á Develop your study habits now!á Create a place that is quiet and avoid distractions. Concentrate and focus on what you need to get done.áá

3) Read, think, and challenge yourself intellectually

Research reveals that reading increases vocabulary, memory, and cognitive abilities.á Why would anyone not do this?á Reading detailed descriptions stimulates the brain and can even change how we act in life.á If you have to truly think and solve problems, learning is the naturally outcome.á The problem is people typically whine and complain about problems rather than solve problems.á Be ahead of the curve and be a thinker and problem solver!á

4) Be accountable for your actions

Take responsibility for yourself and your actions.á Think before you act and accept the consequences for what you do, both positive and negative.á When you eliminate excuses, you possess tremendous control of your destiny and there is no limit to your success.á

5) Avoid the middle school drama

Stay away from students who want to stir up trouble and talk negatively about others.á Make the decision to do what is right.á Be a peace maker and a good student.á
